Who Called Me From This Number? Free Canada Phone Lookup
Enter the Canadian number with +1
Check any Canadian number: the area code and province, the carrier behind it and whether it's been reported for scams.
Got a call from an area code you don’t recognize, or a message claiming to be from the CRA, Canada Post or your bank? Type it in our free Canada phone number lookup: Canada is already selected, so 613 555 0123 is enough. We tell you for free the province, the carrier when available, whether it’s VOIP, whether it’s actually a Caribbean +1 number, and whether it appears in spam or scam reports.
What a Canadian phone number tells you
Canada is part of the North American Numbering Plan, so its numbers use the +1 country code and a three-digit area code tied to a region — for example 416, 647 and 437 for Toronto, 514 and 438 for Montreal, or 604, 778 and 236 for British Columbia. Toll-free numbers use 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844 and 833.
Two things make the area code alone unreliable:
- Number portability: Canadians can keep their number when they change carrier, so the area code says nothing about whether it’s on Bell, Rogers, Telus or another provider today. We show the carrier our sources report for that number.
- Shared +1: the US and more than 20 Caribbean countries also use +1. A number such as +1 876 (Jamaica) or +1 473 (Grenada) can look like a North American call but cost international rates to call back.
Every Canadian number is also checked against the CNA register of assigned exchanges, which shows the company that holds the number block and its exchange area. The live carrier can still differ if the number was ported.
Canadian area codes by province: who called me from this area code?
These are Canada's area codes as listed in the official register of assigned exchanges (CNA), the same register our reverse phone lookup checks every week:

- Quebec: 514, 438 and 263 (Montreal) · 450, 579 and 354 (Granby, Saint-Jérôme, Joliette) · 418, 581 and 367 (Quebec City, Saguenay, Rimouski) · 819, 873 and 468 (Gatineau, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières)

- Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut: 867 (Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Iqaluit)
An area code only tells you where the number was first assigned: numbers can be ported to another carrier, and scammers can fake caller ID. Type the full number in the lookup above to check the carrier and any scam reports.
Common phone scams in Canada
- CRA impersonation: threats of arrest or deportation over a supposed tax debt, with payment requested in gift cards or crypto.
- Emergency or «grandparent» scams: a caller pretends to be a relative in trouble who needs money urgently.
- Bank investigator scams: someone claims to be from your bank’s fraud department and asks you to move money or share a code.
- Delivery texts: a link to pay a fee for a parcel that doesn’t exist.
How to report a scam call or text in Canada
- Report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or at 1-888-495-8501.
- Forward spam texts to 7726 (SPAM) so your carrier can block them.
- Register on the National Do Not Call List (lnnte-dncl.gc.ca), managed by the CRTC, to reduce telemarketing calls.
- If you’ve paid or shared banking details, contact your bank and local police.
If you are reading this from outside Canada, the report also lists the agency for your own country next to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and your anonymous rating helps warn the next person who checks the number.
Can I find out who owns a Canadian number?
Carriers don’t publish who owns a mobile number, and privacy law protects subscriber records. Listed landlines may appear in public directories, but most mobile numbers don’t. Our reverse phone lookup for Canada searches the public trail of the number — websites, Canadian directories and public profiles. Any mention we find comes with a link to its source. If not, we tell you plainly and never invent a name.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check who called me from a Canadian number?
Type the 10-digit number in the lookup above; Canada is already selected. You'll see the area code and province, the carrier when available, whether it's VOIP, whether it's really a Caribbean +1 number and whether it's been reported for spam or scams. If the owner has left a public trail, the free report shows it with its source.
Is it free to look up a Canadian phone number?
Yes, 100% free and with no sign-up. You get the region, carrier, line type and spam reputation, plus the public web trail and a timestamped PDF. The site covers its costs with advertising.
How can I tell if a +1 number is from Canada, the US or the Caribbean?
The area code tells you. Canadian area codes belong to specific provinces, while codes such as 876 (Jamaica), 809 (Dominican Republic) or 473 (Grenada) are Caribbean. The lookup identifies the country automatically, which helps you avoid expensive one-ring scams.
Who should I report a phone scam to in Canada?
Report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or by calling 1-888-495-8501, and forward scam texts to 7726. If you've lost money, also contact your bank and local police.
Can you tell me which carrier a Canadian number is on?
Often, yes. Because numbers can be ported between carriers, the area code isn't enough. We show the carrier our sources report for the number and say so when it can't be confirmed.
Can any website show the owner of every Canadian mobile?
No. Carriers don't publish subscriber details and privacy law protects them. We only show an owner when they have left a public trail, with the source as proof, and we say so honestly when there isn't one.
Which province is this Canadian area code from?
Each Canadian area code belongs to a province or territory: 416, 647, 437 and 942 are Toronto, 514, 438 and 263 Montreal, 604 Vancouver, 403 Calgary, 780 Edmonton, 204 Manitoba and 902 Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The full list by province is above. Type the 10-digit number in the lookup to see its exchange area, the carrier and whether it has been reported.
